Moving to Wordpress

I'm moving this site over to Wordpress.  Hopefully it will all go perfectly (right) but if it doesn't I thought I'd let everyone know what's going on.  The website address is still the same but it can take up to a couple of days for it to completely transfer.  On the new site I'll post a welcome message, if you see that then all is good!

Blogging Frustratations!

My blogs have always been Blogger blogs and because their user interface is not the best, I’ve always used Windows Live Writer for creating blog posts.  Unfortunately WLW no longer works with Blogger blogs and there are no plans for updates.  I’d already planned to move my blogs over to Wordpress, I’ve purchased the hosting and will be working on it after the new year.  In the mean time I’ve downloaded Open Live Writer, which is wonderful, but there are a few things different which makes my blogging process harder.  That also means it takes longer, and it was already taking a lot of time.  So I’m going to skip forward again and come back to the things I’ve missed at some point in the future.  We are in Perth for the holidays.  We saw so many beautiful things in northern WA and it’s been such a lovely journey.

This is a roadsign we saw in Geraldton.  I don’t remember seeing an echidna crossing sign before, so I was happy.  :)


Anyway, I just wanted to say I haven’t stopped blogging, I am determined to keep this going as a journal of our trip.  More to come!

A Blog Break

Recently I’ve taken a blogging break but I think I’m ready to keep going now.  I’ve got several posts written but haven’t gotten them published.  It seems that no matter how hard I work on this blog I am always at least a month behind.

Creating a blog post means choosing pictures, editing pictures, writing text, and formatting everything.  It’s time-consuming and becomes overwhelming when I feel like I’ll never catch up.  But this is the journal of our trip and so it is important to us (to me!) to get it done.  The kids have paper journals but they are very reluctant to work on them most of the time.  Is a half-hearted attempt at a journal still worth it?  I’m not sure but I make them do a page every once in a while anyway.  Maybe I’ll look at getting this blog turned into a book for each of them one day.  Another reason to keep it going!  Eventually I hope to go back and blog about parts I’ve skipped, even if I have to do it after we stop travelling. 

So when will we stop travelling?  Currently we are in Exmouth, Western Australia.  We are enjoying the cool ocean breeze and the lower humidity.  We’ll be heading south down the coast from here.  Around the bend, then east through South Australia and back to Victoria.  But we plan to be home only for a few weeks before heading off again.  We’ll head to the east coast for the second time, as far north as Brisbane at least, then south along the east coast all the way back to Victoria.  That puts us home sometime after Easter.  Then we may be done.  We’ll see.  :)

Up & Running

A few weeks ago there was a glitch with the software I use to create blog posts.  They finally fixed it, so I can blog again!  I had some posts from Tasmania waiting to publish so I’ve done that, but I think to have any hope of keeping this blog at all current I’m going to have to skip ahead.  Hopefully I can go back and blog about some of these places later.

At the moment we are in New South Wales, right near the Queensland border.  We’ve finally found some sunny weather and are enjoying the beach again!  Right now I’m listening to the waves.  It’s lovely.  :)

We’re In the ACT!

So the blog’s been kind of silent.  We came back from Tasmania toward the end of March after five weeks there.  We loved it.  We were exhausted and spent some time resting and recovering.  We went back home for Easter and stayed a couple of weeks.  Since then we’ve travelled into New South Wales.  We spent time in Wagga Wagga and Junee.  Now we are in Canberra and plan to stay a week or two to explore our capital city.

I’m hoping to catch up on blogging while we are here.  I’ve enjoyed a nice break from blogging but need to get back to it before I forget all the places we’ve been!
